The Atlanta Hawks will travel to the Los Angeles to take on the Lakers tonight in a interconference battle. While the Hawks are one of the NBA’s best teams the Lakers are on the far end of the other side of the spectrum. It was in fact the Lakers however that beat the Hawks earlier on this season in a surprising outcome.
This year is one of the best years in Hawks franchise history as they are coming into tonight’s game with a 51-14 record. They have no true superstar but had four player represent them at the All-Star game last month. Paul Millsap is the leader of the team and he scored 23 points in the Hawks most recent victory.
Head coach Mike Budenholzer who learned under Gregg Popovich for many years believes in his shooters and for good reason. Kyle Korver made his first All-Star appearance this season and is shooting lights out from deep.
Jeff Teague and Al Horford are both All-Stars as well and have helped propel the Hawks to a 46-9 record since losing to the Lakers back in November.
Tonight’s might be a little easier for the Hawks as they will take on the Lakers who are without Kobe Bryant of course. Jordan Clarkson and Jeremy Lin will try to get the job done. The Lakers struggles are endless this season as they have lost six out of their last seven games. Their most recent loss coming to Tim Hardaway Jr. and the New York Knicks.
It will be interesting to see how the Lakers respond to the loss if they come out and try to compete or if they are going to lay down and die.
