Astros Spoil Garrett Richards Season Debut, Angels Fall 4-3

Garrett Richards made his highly anticipated season debut this afternoon but it was spoiled by Houston Astros 4-3. Richards who had the best season of his career last season had it cut short due to injury and looked to start this season off with bang.
Garrett Richards pitched 5 innings allowing 5 hits, 3 runs while striking out 4. He was awarded the loss in his first start.
For the Astros Scott Feldman got the start. He had a strong outing as he pitched 6 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs while striking out 3. He was awarded his first win of the season.
The Astros were first to get on the board in the 3rd inning. Luis Valbuena hit a 2-run shot to left center that brought in Jose Altuve. His blast gave the Astros a 2-0 lead heading into the 4th inning.
C.J. Cron answered with a 2-run shot of his own in the 4th inning. His bomb brought in David Freese and tied the game at 2 apiece.
In the 5th inning the Astros looked to regain the lead. Jed Lowrie reached on a Drew Butera throwing error which allowed George Springer to score.
Jason Castro followed with an infield single that brought in Evan Gattis and after 5 innings the Astros lead 4-2.
Albert Pujols hit a solo shot in the 8th inning that cut the Astros lead to 1. But that was the last of the Angels offense as they fell 4-3.
Luke Gregerson picked up his second save of the season. The Angels will look to regroup as they head home for their series with the Oakland Athletics tomorrow night.
