Angels Use Back-To-Back HR’s In 6th To Beat Yanks 2-1

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim used back to back home runs from Albert Pujols and Erick Aybar to beat the New York Yankees 2-1 on Tuesday night. The Angels were able to keep the good vibes rolling as they have won the first two games in Anaheim against the Yanks.

Andrew Heaney got the start for the Halos. He pitched 7 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 run. He struck out 7 and walked 2 as he was able to pick up his 1st win of the year.

On the other hand Ivan Nova got the start for the Yankees. He pitched 5.1 innings, allowing 8 hits and 2 runs. He stuck out 7 and walked 2. He picked up his first loss of the year.

The offense got started in the 2nd inning for the Yankees when Mark Teixeira hit a solo shot to center field. This was his 19th home run of the season and gave the Yanks a 1-0 lead.

In the 6th inning Pujols hit a solo shot to center to cap off his hot month of June. This was his 24th homer of the year and he tied the game at 1-1.

Before Angels fans could sit down after celebrating Pujols homer, Aybar hit a solo blast to center field as well that gave the Angels a 2-1 advantage. This was Aybar’s 2nd home run of the year but served to be the game winner.

Joe Smith and Huston Street pitched in relief for the Halos. Street was awarded the save for his efforts as he struck out 2 in the 9th.

The Yanks and Halos will continue their series tomorrow night at 4:05 p.m. PST
