Angels Top Rangers 3-1

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim used a strong outing from Matt Shoemaker to beat the Texas Rangers 3-1 on Monday.

Shoemaker pitched 5.o innings allowing 2 hits and walked 1 while striking out 3. He was awarded the no-decision the decision for his efforts.

For the Rangers, Jeffrey Springs got the start. He pitched 2 innings allowing 2 hits before leaving the game. He was also awarded a no-decision.

The score was tied at 0-0 until the 7th inning when Taylor Ward hit a two-run home run that brought in Jose Fernandez. David Fletcher followed with an RBI single to left field that brought in Jose Briceno and the Angels led 3-0.

In the bottom of the 7th Joey Gallo hit an RBI double that brought in Elvis Andrus and cut the lead to 3-1. Blake Parker came on in the 9th inning and shut the club down and picked up his 14th save of the year.

Anaheim will take on the Rangers tonight on FS1 at 5:05 p.m.
