Chavez is a former 42 round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2002 MLB Draft. He has spent time with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves, Kansas City Royals, Toronto Blue Jays, Oakland Athletics, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Last season he posted a 2-2 record with a 4.43 ERA in 62 appearances. As the Angels look to rebuild their bullpen Chavez can provide some veteran presence.
