Angels Shutout Tigers, 5-0
- Updated: August 28, 2016
Make it back to back series victories for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as they the Tigers, 5-0. Another big win over a playoff contending team, as the team continues to show improvement.
Have a day Jefry Marte, the former Tiger got revenge against his former team driving in three of the five Angels runs. Marte hit his tenth homer of the season, in the top of the fifth inning, off Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez (L,7-13).
Angels starter Tyler Skaggs (W,2-3), was simply brilliant, allowing only two hits in six innings of work. Skaggs struck out six Tigers batters while walking only two, on ninety-one pitches.
HALOS DUGOUT:
For the first time this season, the Halos have won two consecutive series. This is a big improvement and a big confidence booster for the team moving forward.
Nice job Halos.
ANGELS ON DECK:
After a nice 4-2 road trip, the team is heading home to open a series with the Cincinnati Reds. This is the first time and only time the two teams will get together this season. The Halos lead the all-time series 5-4.
Matt Shoemaker (8-13, 3.98 ERA), will be on the mound for Anahiem. The Reds Dan Straily (10-6, 3.57 ERA), will take the mound for Cincy. The Angels are still 20 games behind the Texas Rangers in the American League West.
