Angels Score 9 In The 5th, Beat Red Sox 12-5

The Los Angeles Angels hit 2 home runs, and scored 9 runs in the 5th inning and were able to blast past the Boston Red Sox tonight 12-5. Tonight’s win got the Angels back on track after last night’s loss.
Garrett Richards got the start for the Halos. He pitched 6 innings allowing 9 hits and 5 runs. He did strike out 1 and walk 2. He picked up his 4th win of the season.
On the other hand Rick Porcello got the start for the Sox. He struggled tonight as he only lasted 4.1 innings. He allowed 7 hits and 7 runs. He struck out 4 and walked 3. This was his 3rd loss of the year.
The Sox got on the board first in the game. Mike Napoli hit a solo shot to center to put the Sox up 1-0.
Albert Pujols answered with a solo shot of his own in 4th inning. His blast to center tied the game at 1-1. Marc Krauss reached on a fielder’s choice that brought in David Freese. Heading into the bottom half of the 4th the Halos lead 2-1.
Brock Holt hit a 2-run double in the bottom half of the inning that brought in Hanley Ramirez and Xander Bogaerts. This gave the Sox a 3-2 lead.
The 5th inning was where everything went downhill for the Boston faithful. The Angels pushed across 9 runs in the inning.
Mike Trout reached on an infield single that brought in Johnny Giavotella and Erick Aybar. Kole Calhoun followed with a RBI single that brought in Trout.Freese added a RBI double to bring in Calhoun.
Chris Iannetta got in on the party with a 3-run blast that brought in Freese and Matt Joyce. This gave the Halos a 9-3 run. Aybar followed with his first home run of the year, a 2-run blast to give the Angels a 11-3 lead. The Halos never looked back.
In the 7th the Sox tried to make a little bit of noise. Mookie Betts reached base on an error from Freese that allowed Holt to score. Dustin Pedroia followed with an infield single that brought in Rusney Castillo and after 7 the Angels lead 11-5.
In the 8th Freese hit a sacrifice fly that brought in Pujols and the Angels won 12-5.
Jose Alvarez, Fernando Salas, and Mike Morin each pitched clean relief innings for the Angels.
The Angels and Red Sox will continue their series tomorrow night at 4:15 p.m.
