Angels Rip Tampa Bay, 13-5
- Updated: July 6, 2016
The Los Angeles Angels made it look easy last night in Tampa, as they came back to torch the Rays, 13-5.
C.J. Cron supplied the offense this team had been desperately looking for all season long. Cron homered twice and drove in four runs for the team as they picked up their third win in the past ten games. It is safe to say Cron is now the Angels hottest hitter.
Tim Lincecum started for the Angels and this wasn’t one of his best starts but the bullpen picked up the tab on his behalf. Lincecum didn’t qualify for the win, as he only lasted four and a third, giving up ten hits and allowing a homer to Logan Morrison, while striking out six. Deolis Guerra (W,2-0), picked up the win in relief. As mentioned, the bullpen held the Rays scoreless after the fifth inning, to slam the door on a comeback.
HALO’S DUGOUT:
All-Star Mike Trout was limited to only one at-bat in last night’s contest. This will be his fifth trip to the Mid-Summer’s classic. Congratulations are in order, however, to our superstar for representing this team and this organization.
ANGELS ON DECK:
The two teams will continue the series in game three of the four-game set. Jared Weaver (6-7, 5-51 ERA), will be the starter for the Angels (34-50). Tampa Bay (34-49) will counter with
Drew Smyly (2-9, 5.33 ERA). The Angels are still in the basement of the American League West, eighteen and a half games behind the Texas Rangers.
