Angels Lose To Rangers, 5-4
- Updated: September 22, 2016
The Los Angeles Angels let another game slip away in a 5-4 loss to the Texas Rangers. The tempers were very heated in this contest. Angels Manager Mike Scioscia and left-hander Brett Oberholtzer were ejected from the game when Oberholtzer hit Elvis Andrus with a pitch. Andrus was the third batter that was hit by Angels pitching. The incident started when Mike Trout was hit by a pitch in the second inning of the game. Both benches were warned and both benches cleared in the eighth inning.
The Angels had opportunities, but the final one slipped away when the bases were loaded in the top of the eighth inning and Rangers held off the Halos potential rally.
Halos starter Daniel Wright (L,0-2) only lasted 4-2/3 innings, giving up all five of the Rangers runs, including the go-ahead two-run homer to Nomar Mazara.
HALO’s DUGOUT:
This was a very winnable game, but due to the high emotions between both teams and the directions both teams are heading, this played an important part in the outcome.
ANGELS ON DECK:
The two teams will play for the final time this season tonight in Texas. Jared Weaver (11-12, 5.17 ERA), will take the mound for the Halos(65-86). The Rangers (90-62) will send Derek Holland (7-8, 4.93 ERA) to the hill. The Rangers are moving closer to the American League West title. They now hold a 24.5 lead over the Halos.
