Angels Lose To A’s In The Season Opener, 4-2.
- Updated: April 4, 2017
Opening Day 2016 was the same result for the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels suffered their first loss of the season to the Oakland A’s, 4-2.
A’s catcher Stephen Vogt started the scoring with a solo shot to right field, off Ricky Nolasco (L 0-1), to give Oakland a 1-0 lead. Mike Trout launched his first home run of the season, a two-run bomb that scored Kole Calhoun. The two runs were the only offense that the Angels could find in this game.
A’s outfielder Khris Davis is becoming a very household name. Davis hit two solo homers in the sixth and eight innings of this game. In the past two seasons. Davis has been very dangerous with his offensive ability. Anaheim newcomers Cameron Maybin, Danny Espinoza and Martin Maldonado combined went 0-11 at the plate.
