Angels Lose Again, Get Swept By Cards

@BaseballQuotes1

The Los Angeles Angels have now lost six straight games, after the last loss to the St.Louis Cardinals, 12-10. In this game, the Angels managed to hold a lead for the first time in the series. This was short-lived, as the Cards stormed back with a three-run fourth inning, a five-run fifth and a two-run sixth, to put this one away. As the Cards added their final two runs in the ninth, the Angels scored three times in the ninth, but still came up two runs short.

Jered Weaver (L,3-2), only managed to complete four innings, allowing nine hits and was touched up for a season-high eight earned runs. Daniel Nada hit his first homer of the season off Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright, in the fourth inning and Albert Pujols, hit his seventh homer of the season, off Sean Maness in the bottom of the ninth.

HALOS DUGOUT:

The latest home run by Albert Pujols now brings his all-time total to 567 for his career. He’s now two homers behind Rafael Palmeiro for twelfth on the all-time home run list. By the end of the season, Pujols could find himself just a few homers out of the top ten. After Palmeiro, his next target on the list is Harmon Killerbrew, who’s currently in eleventh place with 573 homers.

ANGELS ON DECK:

The team is heading north to Seattle, for a three-game weekend series with the American League Western leaders. Los Angeles (13-21) are currently in last place, eight games behind the Mariners.
Nick Tropeano (1-2, 3.69 ERA), will take the mound for the Angels. He will be opposed by Nathan Karns (3-1, 3.38 ERA), in the first game of the series. The first pitch from Safeco Field is scheduled for 10:10pm PST. Lets Go Halo’s, let’s end this current skid!
