Angels Lose 6th Consecutive Game

Angels

These are brutal times in Anaheim. Following yet another loss on Saturday, the Angels are now 17 GB in the AL West and 9.5 GB in the wild card race. When the pitching is good, the offense doesn’t show up, and when the offense is good, the pitching doesn’t show up

On Saturday, Oakland jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st on a 2 run shot by Danny Valencia. The Angels were able to even things at 2 apiece in the bottom of the 1st on back to back bombs by Kole Calhoun and Mike Trout. The A’s plated 1 in the 3rd to take a 3-2 lead then another in the 6th to extend their lead to 4-2. Albert Pujols cut the deficit in half with his 14th home run of the year in the bottom of the 6th, but the Athletics would go on to score 3 unanswered runs and cruise to a 7-3 victory over LA.

For the Angels, Jhoulys Chacin couldn’t make it out of the 5th inning, allowing 4 runs over his 4.2 innings of work. His ERA is up to 5.64 on the season. Mike Morin got roughed up out of the bullpen, allowing 3 runs over 2/3 of an inning.

The Angels and A’s will play their series finale on Sunday at 12:35 PM PST.
