Angels Get Blanked By Mariners, 8-0
- Updated: September 14, 2016
Another loss to the Seattle Mariners and another shutdown of the offense, as the team fell 8-0. The Angels now have lost for the sixth time in the past ten games.
Taijuan Walker (6-10), changed his misfortunes from his previous outing against the Angels, to a complete game shutout against their divisional rival.
Walker took a no-hit bid into the bottom of the seventh inning but was broken up by Kole Calhoun. Mike Trout was a victim of striking out three times against Walker, and Yunel Escobar was called out twice.
HALO’s DUGOUT:
Give the guy credit, Walker struck out eleven Angels and was simply looked dominate in his performance from last evening. Alex Meyer (L,0-3), was very ineffective in this game. Meyer only completed four innings, giving up four earned runs on five hits, including two homers to the M’s.
ANGELS ON DECK:
The Halos(63-81) and the Seattle Mariners (77-68), will play the final game of the season. The Angels have won 8 out of the 18 meetings between the two teams this season. In the series finally, Jhoulys Chacin (5-8, 5.63 ERA), will take the mound for Los Angeles. Hisashi Iwakuma (15-11, 3.96 ERA), will be the starter for Seattle.
The Halos are currently a full game ahead of the Oakland A’s in fourth place, in the American League West.
