Angels Fall To Orioles, 6-2
- Updated: August 8, 2017
The Los Angeles Angels and the Baltimore Orioles played game one of a very important three-game series. The first one goes to Baltimore, 6-2.
Before the game, the teams were saddened by the news of the death of Don Baylor. Baylor was the 1979 AL MVP for the Angels and that team lost to Baylor’s former team (Baltimore) in the
American League Championship.
Baltimore’s Manny Machado‘s seventh inning grand slam broke a 2-2 score for the game winner off Angels starter JC Ramirez
(L,10-10).
Mike Trout celebrated his 26th birthday in style. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Trout doubled for his 1,000th career hit.
The birthday was completed with a solo-shot home run to left that hit off the foul pole. Trout has now homered four of times in his career on his birthday.
NEXT UP FOR THE ANGELS:
The critical second game of this series will be played tonight. Parker Bridwell (5-1, 3.20 ERA) will take the mound for the
Halos. Newly acquired Jeremy Hellickson (7-5, 4.45 ERA) will make his second start for the Orioles.
The Halos (55-58) have now lost four-straight games and the Baltimore Orioles and the Minnesota Twins have leaped over the Halos for the final wild card spot in the American League.
