Angels Fall On Last Day Of Season; Fail To Reach Playoffs

ARLINGTON, Tx- The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim fell on the last day of the season to the Texas Rangers and failed to reach the playoffs.
For the Halos Garrett Richards got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 6 and 3 runs. He struck out 6 and walked 2, and also allowed a home run as well. He picked up his 12th loss of the year.
On the other side Cole Hamels got the start and as dominate. He pitched a complete game allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 8 and walked 2 as he picked up his 13th win of the year.
Things looked promising for the Halos in the first inning. Albert Pujols hit his 40th home run of the year, a 2-run shot that brought in Mike Trout and gave the Angels a 2-0 lead.
The Rangers answered back in the bottom half of the inning. Prince Fielder hit a RBI single to left that brought in Delino DeShields to cut the lead to 2-1.
Adrian Beltre hit a 2-run home run in the 5th inning that brought in Shin-Soo Choo and the Rangers held a 3-2 lead.
The 7th inning was the inning of doom for the Angels. Fielder drew a walk that brought in Chris Gimenez. Beltre reached on an infield single that pushed across a run. Mitch Moreland hit a sacrifice fly that scored a run. Josh Hamilton and Elvis Andrus each provided RBI hits and the Rangers took control of the game 9-2.
With the loss the Angels failed to reach the playoffs but here at CaliSports we looking forward to them coming back strong next season!
