Angels Fall In Extras 5-4

The Los Angeles Angels were unable to hold a 3-2 lead in the 9th and ending up losing 5-4 in 11 innings. A victory in today’s game would have completed the sweep of the Rangers.
Hector Santiago got the start for the Halos. He pitched 5.1 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 run while striking out 5 and walking 6. He picked up a no decision for his efforts.
For the Rangers Nick Martinez got the start. He had a strong outing as he pitched 6 innings allowing 7 hits and 0 runs. He struck out 2 and walked 2 but he too was awarded with a no decision.
The Ranger got on the board first in the 2nd inning. With the bases loaded Rougned Odor was hit by a pitch and Elvis Andrus was able to score. This gave the Rangers the early 1-0 lead.
In the 3rd inning Mitch Moreland hit a sacrifice fly that brought in Jake Smolinski. This gave the Rangers a 2-0 lead heading into the 4th inning.
Mike Trout made his presence known in the 7th inning. He hit his 4th home run of the season a 2-run shot that brought Johnny Giavotella in.
With the game tied at 2-2 Giavotella hit a RBI single center that brought in Grant Green and gave the Halos a 3-2 advantage.
In the 9th inning Joe Smith came on to pick up the save. The Rangers had other ideas as they connected on 3 two out hits to tie the game. Moreland hit a single to right field that brought in Delino DeShields to score.
In the 11th inning Leonys Martin hit a solo shot to right field off of Jose Alvarez. Andrus reached base on error by Erick Aybar which allowed Adam Rosales to score and the Rangers lead 5-3.
In the 11th Aybar hit a RBI single to left which brought in Albert Pujols and cut the lead to 5-4.
For the Rangers Neftali Feliz picked up the win.
The Halos will have Monday off before taking on the Athletics in Oakland on Tuesday night.
