Angels Beat Up The Mets, 12-5

@LosAngelesBests

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim avoided the sweep, as they destroyed and out-slugged the New York Mets 12-5.

The Halos pounded out five runs in the first inning, capped off by a C.J. Cron‘s first homer of the season, on a grand slam.

Mike Trout remained hot! Trout slammed his fourteenth homer of the season. The two-run blast cleared the center-field wall in the second inning, scoring Andrelton Simmons to push the lead to 7-0. Jefry Marte followed Trout with his third homer of the season to extend the Angels lead to eight at the end of only two innings.

Trout doubled to center field gave the Halos a commanding nine-run advantage in the top of the third inning, for his third RBI of the afternoon.

The Angels finished off the offensive explosion in the top of the seventh inning when Simmions hit a three-run home run that scored Luis Valbuena and Cameron Maybin.

Jesse Chavez (W,4-5), only had to work 5-2/3 innings, but he surrendered three homers to Matt Reynolds, Curtis Granderson, and Jay Bruce.

NEXT UP FOR THE HALOS:

The Angels (23-23), are heading down to Florida to face the Tampa Bay Rays, for a four-game series. JC Ramero
(3-3, 3.97 ERA) will face the Rays in game one. The Rays will send Jake Odorizzi (3-2, 3.16 ERA) to the mound.
The Angels managed to get back to .500 for the season, with the win.
