Angels Beat Seattle 7-6! The Streak Is Over!

@Angels

ANGELS WIN! For the first time this month, the Los Angeles Angels beat the Mariners at home, 7-6.

After Anaheim took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning, the Mariners struck back. The Angles were down at one point, 5-1, but the bottom of the sixth inning started the comeback. Albert Pujols hit a three-run homer to get the Angels even at four runs apiece.

Jett Bandy gave the Halos the lead back, on his solo homer to left. The Mariners fought back to take the lead again, but the Angels had something we haven’t seen in the past eleven games, one last rally. Anaheim managed to fight back in the bottom of the eighth inning with a Jefry Marte homer just inside the foul pole down the left field line. Two batters later, Cliff Pennington laced a triple into the right field corner, to give the Angels the lead and the game winner. Brett Oberholtzer (W,1-0), picked up his first of the season in relief since joining the Halos and Fernando Salas (S,3), closed the door in the top of the ninth.

HALO’S DUGOUT:

A three-homer night and great defensive plays and all of this came on “Duck Night.” We have to give the team credit, throughout this streak, they stayed competitive. Albert Pujols hit career homer number 582, he’s is now one homer behind Mark McGwire  for tenth on the all-time home run list.

ANGELS ON DECK:

The team will go for win number two tonight in game three. The Angels Tyler Skaggs (1-1, 4.37 ERA), will be handed the ball. Cody Martin (1-2, 2.70 ERA), will start for the M’s.  Anaheim (50-69), won their 50th game of the season and will try to win their second straight game.
