Angels Beat Mariners, 5-4

@angels_fanly

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim made it two in a row after taking the second game of their weekend series with the Seattle Mariners, 5-4.

After the Mariners took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the Angels came back to chip away at the lead in the bottom of the second inning.

Danny Espinosa singled to right, scoring Albert Pujols, to cut the lead to 2-1. The Angels tied the game in the bottom of the third off the bat of Kole Calhoun that scored Yunel Escobar. Escobar homered for the first time this season which gave the Angels the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning. Mike Trout added a two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh inning to finish the scoring for the Halos.

J.C. Ramirez (W, 2-0, B,1), picked his second win of the season in relief, even though he had a blown save. Cam Bedrosian (S,2), came out of the bullpen and struck out four in an inning and two-thirds of work.

HALOS DUGOUT:

Both Ramirez and Bedrosian have been working really hard to keep this bullpen steady in this first week of the season. Manager Mike Scioscia knows that he can trust these guys to make an impact when needed.

NEXT UP FOR THE ANGELS:

The Angels (4-2), will go for the sweep of the series this afternoon.
Matt Shoemaker (0-0, 3.60 ERA) will take the hill for Los Angeles. Seattle (1-5), will send Hisashi Iwakuma (0-1, 3.00 ERA) will try to put an end to the team’s two-game skid.
