After a split with Oakland in the opening series of the season, the Angels beat the Mariners, 5-1.
The season opener for the Los Angeles Angels at the Big “A” last night resulted in a big win. They are now 3-2 on the season with the victory.
Mike Trout got the Halos on the board first, on a sac-fly, that scored Yunel Escobar. Kole Calhoun and Cameron Mabin both homered to give the team the offensive punch. Jesse Chevez (1-0) picked up his first win in an Angels uniform. The Angels bullpen was very strong, allowing no runs, one hit, and striking out four.
The Halos displayed some very solid defense in the field led by shortstop Andrelton Simmons.
