Angels Acquire Yunel Escobar

According to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have acquired Yunel Escobar from the Washington Nationals.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports also reported the news.

Escobar is a former second round pick of the Atlanta Braves in the 2005 MLB Draft. He has spent time with the Braves, Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, and Nationals.

Last year with the Nationals he played in 139 games and had a .314 batting average. He also had 168 hits, 25 of those hit for doubles.

With the Escobar move the Angels will probably not bring back David Freese. The Angels have also been linked to Jason Heyward but seem to be the long shots to land his services.

As more information surfaces on the Angels and their offseason moves we will keep you up to date.
