Josh Hamilton has definitely had a rough year. After being out of play following a shoulder surgery before spring training, news of a self-reported relapse emerged. An investigation from the MLB ensued and they ultimately didn’t suspend him, but it seems there is more to the story.

It was reported yesterday that the reason for his drug abuse stemmed from his wife’s infidelities. This lead to a filing of divorce in North Texas, in February. The petition was made public and the media have investigated it further.

Yahoo Sports explain the document doesn’t detail the couple’s specific problems that led to the filing. It does, however, outline 34 requests made by Hamilton in regards to his wife Katie. Some of the asks include: prohibiting his wife from using a Maserati and 1972 Chevrolet Blazer in his possession; prohibiting her from ”hiding” the children from him; prohibiting her from making disparaging remarks against him or his family.

Although Katie denied the accusations in court, the couple have agreed not to communicate with each other as the proceedings move forward.

Yahoo Sports reports,

“Hamilton can’t see his children without supervision, according to court records. He is also prohibited from going to the couple’s properties in Westlake, Texas; Newport Coast, California; and Valley Mills, Texas.

The $16.5-million home in Newport Coast went up for sale on Friday.”

And to make things worse for the guy? The owner, Arte Moreno, spoke out and said Hamilton might not play for the Angels again. He is owed $83 million over the final three seasons of a $125 million, five-year deal signed in 2012.

We are thinking of Josh Hamilton as he goes through this tough period in his life.
