Stoudemire reached a buyout agreement on Sunday and quickly made his decision to sign with the Mavericks Monday evening. The Los Angeles Clippers expressed interest in the former All-Star but Stoudemire ultimately chose the Mavericks for numerous reasons.
Stoudemire will join Rajon Rondo and Tyson Chandler in Dallas, a combination that many thought they would see in New York in 2016 before the Phil Jackson hiring.
Stoudemire will fill the void that Brenden Wright left when he was dealt to the Boston Celtics. He will be a backup to both Tyson Chandler and Dirk Nowitzki.
Marc Stein of ESPN.com reported that Stoudemire could suit up with the Mavericks as early as Thursday.
Stoudemire will most certainly clear waivers Wednesday and, barring any late snags, could be in a Mavs uniform as soon as Thursday at OKC

The Los Angeles Clippers have tried to add frontcourt depth numerous times this season via free agency and it just hasn’t worked out. Earlier this year they went after Josh Smith who opted to sign with the Houston Rockets.
