Albert Pujols Grand Slam Lifts Halos 12-7

It was a big night for Albert Pujols tonight as he hit a Gram Slam and made sure the Angels were going to go out on top of this game. They beat the Oakland Athletics 12-7.
Sonny Gray started off the pitching for the A’s in the first inning. With Efren Navarro up to bat, and a foul ball he grounded out to second. Up next was Kole Calhoun who was strike looking. He also grounded out to second. It was Ben Zobrist who homered to right helping Billy Burns and Stephen Vogt to score. Oakland took the lead 3-0.
The Halos scored in the second inning after Johnny Giavotella doubled to deep left which helped David Freese to score after he walked. The score sat at 3-1. With the A’s up to bat and Matt Shoemaker pitching a strike looking Billy Burns fouled and then reached on an infield single which caused Brett Lawrie to up the score 4-1.
Giavotella hit a sacrifice fly to right in the fourth inning helping Albert Pujols and Erick Aybar to move to second. A’s still up 4-2.
Athletics moved their score 7-2 in the sixth inning after Vogt doubled to right and Marcus Semien and Burns scored. Fernando Salas relieved Jose Alvarez after Vogt scored.
In a big seventh inning Matt Joyce singled to left while Aybar scored and Giavotella moved to second. Daniel Robertson came into the game to hit for Navarra, and walked. Giavotella scored, Joyce moved to third and Chris Ianetta moved around to second. Mike Trout was safe at first on a Zobrist fielding error, helping Joyce to score, Iannetta to move to third and Robertson to cruise to second. Giavotella singled to center and Aybar scored to pretty much close out the end of the inning 10-7 in the Halo’s favor.
In the top of the ninth Pujols doubled to right helping Mike Trout score which was followed by Aybar doubling to right and Pujols scoring. This would be the end of the scoring for the night. The game closed 12-7!
Pujols grand had a crushing grand slam which pushes him to lead the AL in homers with 20!
The Angels and the A’s will play again at 12:05 pm PST tomorrow.
