After Scoreless Innings, Angels Lose 3-0

Scott Kazmir kicked off our game tonight pitching to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, which ended in a 3-0 loss to the Houston Astros.

The first inning went as follows: Shane Victorino struck out swinging, Kole Calhoun grounded out to second, Mike Trout walked, and Albert Pujols grounded out to third. This how the majority of the game would go for both teams. Matt Schumaker, however, did allow a hit for the Astros in the bottom of the first.

Mike Trout returned tonight after missing two long games due to a wrist injury. The center fielder was 0-3 tonight.

CBSSports.com writes the following in their recap:

Kole Calhoun gave Los Angeles its first hit since the second inning with a single with one out in the sixth, but Kazmir retired the next five hitters. Johnny Giavotella singled to start the eighth and became the first Angel to reach second on a fly out. Shane Victorino drew a walk before Giavotella took third on a wild pitch.

Kazmir escaped the jam and ended his night by striking out Calhoun.”

It wasn’t until the ninth inning that the Astos’ Jason Castro hit a three-run homer with two outs on the board. This has helped the Astros to move two games ahead of the Angels in the AL West.

Up next the Angels will take on the Dodgers at 7:10 pm PST!
