A.J. Pollock Too Much For Padres

SAN DIEGO, Ca- A.J. Pollock totaled 5 RBI’s and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Diego Padres at Petco Park on Friday night.
For the Padres Casey Kelly got the start. He pitched 5 innings allowing 6 hits and 6 runs. He walked 1, strikeout 1, and gave up a home run. 48 of his 78 pitches were strikes, and he picked up his 1st loss of the season.
On the other hand Rubby De La Rosa got the start. He pitched 5.2 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 runs, but only 2 of the runs were earned. He struck out 2 and walked 3 as he picked up his 14th win of the season.
A.J. Pollock got the offense started in the first inning. He hit a RBI single that brought in Phil Gosselin. Paul Goldschmidt followed with a RBI double and the Diamondbacks held a early 2-0 lead.
In the 2nd inning, Pollock hit a grand slam that brought in De La Rosa, Ender Inciarte, and Gosselin. For Pollock it was his 19th bomb of the year and gave the D’Backs a 6-0 lead.
The Padres got on the board in the 4th inning. Jedd Gyorko grounded out but brought Matt Kemp into score.Wil Myers hit a RBI single to right field in the 5th inning that brought in Travis Jankowski. Alexi Amarista hit a RBI single in the 6th inning but that was the last of the comeback.
Brad Ziegler came on in the 9th of the D’Backs and shut the club down and the Padres fell 6-3.
The Padres and D’Backs will continue their series tonight at 5:40 p.m. PST. Jeremy Hellickson and Robbie Erlin are the probable starters.
