For those who watch Dodger baseball know that Ellis is the primary catcher for Clayton Kershaw. He will serve as the backup for Yasmani Grandal this season.
Ellis is a former 18th round pick of the Dodgers in the 2003 MLB Draft. He has spent his entire eight year career with the club.
Ellis a true leader in the locker room and it is good to see the Dodgers get a deal done now rather than later.
With a new manager and Ellis locked up for another year the Dodgers will focus on getting their second ace back in the blue and white.
The Dodgers will be paying a record fee in luxury tax penalties for their payroll last year. Expect to see a few changes to the roster as they look to improve on their disappointing end to the season last year.
