A Historic Night For All Three SoCal Teams

SoCal

What a night for the SoCal Teams – Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers beat the Padres 4-0, while the Angels blanked the Seattle Mariners 5-0.

We start with the Dodgers and Padres game, a 4-0 win for the Blue Crew but the story was the fact that the Dodgers threw a combined no-hitter against their rivals to the south in Monterrey Mexico.
Rookie Walker Buehler (2-0) went six full innings of no-hit ball, striking out eight, and walking three before leaving the game. Buehler has been the subject of trade talks in recent weeks with the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for shortstop Manny Machado. But after this performance, Buehler will have a well deserved day off.

Tony Cingrani, Yimi Garcia, and Adam Liberatore were spectacular in finishing off the first ever combined no-hitter in the franchise’s history. The feat was the twelfth in Major League history and the fourth time that it was accomplished outside the United States.

The Angels win in Seattle was huge on several accounts. The team moved into sole possession of first place in the American League West with their fourth-straight win.

The future Hall Of Famer Albert Pujols provided some history in the victory, collecting two hits while joining the exclusive 3,000 hit club. His second hit in the top of the ninth inning moved him past the late Roberto Clemente for 31st all time. Puljos is the fourth player in the last four years to join the club behind Alex Rodriguez in 2015, Ichiro Suzuki in 2016 and Adrian Beltre in 2017.

Puljos also joined another exclusive club (600 homers and 3,000 hits) with Hank Aaron and Alex Rodriguez. The next club he could join will be the (600, 3,000 and 2,000 RBI’s).

All three Southern California teams will be in action later today. The Dodgers will play the Padres in Mexico again. Kenta
Maeda (2-2, 3.76 ERA) will oppose Bryan Mitchell (0-3, 6.07 ERA).
The Angels will send Tyler Skaggs (3-2 3.03 ERA) against Marco Gonzales (3-2, 5.02 ERA).

The fact that this was historic, last year on June 3, the Dodgers threw a no-hitter and Albert Pujols hit his 600th homer, what a coincidence.
