4. Basketball Without Borders is Working

Growing up I remember the NBA launching a program titled Basketball Without Borders. The program has NBA players travel to various countries building basketball courts or gyms so that young people are able to learn to love the game of basketball the same way kids in America do.

What used to be called the Rookie vs. Sophomore Game is now World vs. USA. This is a true testament to the NBA investing in the league outside of the US and we are seeing it pay dividends. Players like Andrew Wiggins, Kristaps Porzingis, Mario Hezonja, and Emmanuel Mudiay each put on an excellent performance representing their countries and their teams.

The USA team had players like Karl Anthony-Towns, D’Angelo Russell and other names.

Future is bright with players like those who participated and with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce fading out the league is good hands. As more and more athletes from around the world continue to develop into great players the game of basketball will only to continue to grow. Don’t forget we’ll see Ben Simmons in this game next year, hopefully representing the Lakers.
