We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Angels.

Here is an excerpt from the Los Angeles Angels game yesterday:

“The Oakland A’s totaled 18 hits tonight and used a late push to beat the Los Angeles Angels 9-2. After yesterday’s 14-1 victory for the Angels today’s game was vastly different.

Jered Weaver got the start for the Angels. He pitched well going 6 innings allowing 8 hits and 1 run while striking out 3. He was awarded a no decision.

For the A’s Sonny Gray had a strong game. He pitched 7 innings allowing 2 innings and 1 run while striking out 7. He earned his 2nd win of the year.

The offense started early for the A’s. Billy Butler grounded into a fielder choice that allowed Stephen Vogt to score.”

Johnny Giavotella is off the best start of his career from the plate. In 2011 he hit a career high .247 and hasn’t seen anything close to that success since:

“So far this season he’s had some other ideas when it comes to hitting.

In yesterday’s 14-1 rout of the A’s Giavotella blasted a 3-run shot off of Drew Pomeranz. His first of the year and only his 5th of his career. He went on to hit a RBI single to get his total up to 4 for the night which is a career high for him.

The home run wasn’t the important take away from last night. Neither was the career high in RBI’s. It’s the fact that Giavotella is off spectacular slash line for any big leaguer not just for Giavotella’s standards.”
