The Los Angeles Dodgers lost the first game of many to come against their notable National League West rival in the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants. One thing that is notable about these Dodgers so far is that through thirteen games played this early season, Los Angeles has only one road win. Hopefully this will change starting in game two tonight.
The San Francisco Giants had Tim Lincecum (W) (1-1, 2.00 ERA, 6.0 IP 1 ER) on the mound as he faced Brett Anderson (1-1, 4.80 ERA, 4.0 IP, 4 ER). Both pitchers didn’t allow runs in the first inning but this soon changed. Brandon Crawford scored the games first run on a bunt single to second base a Justin Maxwell scored to give the Giants a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third inning Buster Posey hit an RBI single to left center field as Joe Panik scored as San Francisco was up 2-0. As the game continued in the bottom of the fourth Giants lead off man Nori Aoki reached first base on an infield single. Justin Maxwell scored yet again and so did Brandon Crawford from a throwing error by Adrian Gonzalez. By then the Giants lead 4-0.
Surprisingly the pitching of Tim Lincecum didn’t affect Alex Guerrero as he pinch hit for Brett Anderson last night. Guerrero hit an RBI double to left field as Juan Uribe scored as it was 4-1. Justin Maxwell proceeded to hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning as San Francisco was up 6-1. The Dodgers managed to score one more run in the ninth as the final here was 6-2. Tonight though is a match up many are looking forward to.
At 7:15 PM PT reigning National League MVP Clayton Kershaw (1-1, 4.42 ERA) will take on Madison Bumgarner (1-1, 5.29 ERA) in game two of this series.
