Johnny Giavotella Is Off To a Hot Start

(Photo via Twitter User )

Johnny Giavotella is off the best start of his career from the plate. In 2011 he hit a career high .247 and hasn’t seen anything close to that success since. So far this season he’s had some other ideas when it comes to hitting.

In yesterday’s 14-1 rout of the A’s Giavotella blasted a 3-run shot off of Drew Pomeranz. His first of the year and only his 5th of his career. He went on to hit a RBI single to get his total up to 4 for the night which is a career high for him.

The home run wasn’t the important take away from last night. Neither was the career high in RBI’s. It’s the fact that Giavotella is off spectacular slash line for any big leaguer not just for Giavotella’s standards. His line of .317/.383./.439 is something that Angels fans can get used to.

Yes we all will miss Howie Kendrick and no one can blame you for that. But if Giavotella can provide this kind of production it makes the Kendrick absence a little easier to swallow.

For the fansasty baseball players out there Drew Silva of NBCSports.com has a something for ya.

Is this going to last all season? Probably not but I’ll take production from the new second baseman any day of the week.
