Angels Rout A’s 14-1

The Los Angeles Angels gave the Oakland A’s the business on Tuesday night. It seemed like everyone chipped in on the action as the Angels totaled 15 hits tonight.

Hector Santiago got the start for the Halos. He pitched 6 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run while striking out 8. He was awarded his second win of the young season.

On the other side Drew Pomeranz got the start for Oakland. His start didn’t go as well as he lasted 5 innings allowing 8 hits and 4 runs while striking out 6. He picked up the loss.

The Angels put up four runs in the second inning. Johnny Giavotella hit a 3 run blast to left center that brought home C.J. Cron and Chris Iannetta. Albert Pujols reached on an error that allowed Kole Calhoun to score and after four innings the Halos led 4-0.

In the 3rd inning the A’s scored their only run of the game. Billy Butler hit a solo shot to center field.

The 6th and 7th innings totaled 10 runs for the Angels. They pushed 6 across in the 6th and 4 in the 7th.

Giavotella hit a RBI single that brought in Cron. He scored later in the inning off a wild pitch. David Freese hit a 2-run single to center that brought in Calhoun and Mike Trout.

Erick Aybar got in on the action with a RBI single that brought in Freese. Collin Cowgill hit an infield single that allowed Aybar to score and the 6 run 6th inning ended with the Halos up 10-1.

In the 7th Calhoun added a 3 run shot to right to his resume for the night. Taylor Featherston hit a sac fly later in the inning and the Halos beat the A’s 14-1.

Tha Halos and A’s will continue their series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. PST.
