Giants @ Padres Game #3 Information
- Updated: April 11, 2015
The San Francisco Giants will take on the San Diego Padres in game three of their four game series. So far this series has been been more about the pitching and defense than bats and don’t expect that to change today.
James Shields will make his Petco Park debut for the Padres. He was named the opening day starter and pitched 6 innings, allowing 6 hits, and 2 runs while striking out 8. He will look to give the home fans the same type of performance.
For the Giants Madison Bumgarner will get the start. In his first start of the year he pitched 7 innings allowing 6 hits, 1 run, while striking out 3. Taking care of the NL West is not a problem for Bumgarner. He holds a 33-19 with a 2.94 ERA against NL West foes.
The plot thickens as Shields reportedly turned down a larger offer from the Giants before ultimately choosing the Padres. Shields and Bumgarner pitched against each other in game 1 and 5 in the World Series.
Wil Myers was the hero in last night’s low scoring affair. His RBI double in the eighth inning gave the Padres a 1-0 victory.
