Byron Scott Calls Out Lakers Players But Why?

(Photo via Twitter User )

On Tuesday afternoon Byron Scott called out the Lakers players with this quote below provided by ESPNNBA official Twitter account.

My initial thoughts on the quote was why. Why did Scott go out of his way to call out a team with players on the roster who never in a million years would wear the purple and gold in normal circumstances? Scott claims that frustration just boiled over after the last two Laker losses. But how can you really expect a lot of these players to live and die with a coach and an organization in which one they haven’t been a part of for very long or two aren’t going to be a part of for much longer.

If you look at the Lakers roster right now there aren’t too many familiar faces suiting up every night. We all know Kobe Bryant as been out with the torn rotator cuff. Jordan Hill has been around for a few years but he’s constantly in trade rumors and for good reason. If the Lakers could get a mid first round pick for him he’d be out the door. Nick Young is in his second year on the team and is locked up for a few years but he’s been out with injury as well.

That leaves us with Jeremy Lin… gone after the year. Carlos Boozer… gone. Wesley Johnson… could see him leaving. Ed Davis… could get paid elsewhere.  The rest of the team like Jordan Clarkson and Jabari Brown have made a name for themselves this season but it’s not very likely that this team will look anything like it does today at this point next season. Or at least let’s hope not.

At this point next season for the City of Angels to be happy the team needs a complete revamp. So Byron Scott, calm down my friend. Dwight Buycks and Tarik Black aren’t going to watch your back in the Fox Hole, they’re too busy making sure they can get out before they’re trapped like you.
