The Los Angeles Kings will travel to Canada tonight to take on the Vancouver Canucks. After a win against the Colorado Avalanche, the Kings have secured the Western Conference’s second wild-card spot. The Kings are now just one point behind the Flames.
ESPN.com reports Alec Martinez saying the following about the Kings’ current position:
“We know what’s at stake,” said Alec Martinez, who ended a 13-game goal drought in a 3-1 win over Colorado on Saturday. “A lot of us have been through a very similar situation before, so you can tap into that experience. Every season has its own story, and it’s a little unique. Obviously, this is really down to crunch time, but I’m really confident in the group that we have here. We all know that we can do it.”
As for the Canucks, they enter today’s game two points above Calgary. They will try to miss their third straight loss, ESPN.com reports the following on playing at home:
“When you have a chance at home, that’s all you can ask for. So we’ve got to make the most of it,” coach Willie Desjardins told the team’s official website. “We have an older group. They know that we need to do it, and we need to find some wins. There are no excuses; we’ve got to find (wins).”
