Jered Weaver Named Opening Day Starter

According to the Los Angeles Angels official Twitter account right handed pitcher Jered Weaver will get the start on Opening Day for the Halos.

This will be Weaver’s 7th time as a Opening Day starter. Weaver was excellent in 2014. He posted a 18-9 record with a 3.59 ERA.

The Angels will start the season shorthanded as Garrett Richards continues to rehab from his knee injury last season.

Andrew Heaney was suppose to hold the fort down until Richards returned but he struggled mightily in the spring and will start the year in Triple-A.

It will be a four man rotation which sports Weaver, C.J. Wilson, Matt Shoemaker and Hector Santiago.

The Angels will open up the season on Monday afternoon when they take on the Seattle Mariners.
