Recap: Dodgers 10, Rangers 5 – Brandon McCarthy Gets the Win
- Updated: March 30, 2015
Today was Brandon McCarthy‘s 4th start of the spring and he finally picked up his first win, going 5 and 2/3 innings, striking out 4 and walking 2.
After giving up 3 runs in the top of the 3rd, McCarthy settled in and pitched 2 more innings en route to his first win. The Dodgers helped him out by immediately scoring 5 in the bottom of the third, starting with a 2 run single by Chris Heisey with men on 2nd and 3rd, Buck Britton and Jimmy Rollins scoring easy after it bounced softly in front of the right fielder.
Then with Heisey still on first, Adrian Gonzalez almost hits one out off the top of the wall, scoring Heisey from first and barely making it in at second. Right after that Howie Kendrick hit a single into right to score Gonzalez, stole second and came home on a deep Scott Van Slyke double into center field with Scotty getting thrown out trying to turn it into a triple for the third out of the inning.
Jimmy Rollins, Howie Kendrick and Scott Van Slye all collected 2 hits in 3 at-bats, and Buck Britton picked up his second home-run of the spring.
The Dodgers now stand 15-8 for the spring with 6 games to go.
