The Los Angeles Kings will travel to Anaheim tonight to take on local rivals, the Anaheim Ducks. The way that things are shaping up, it is starting to look like a strong possibility these teams could meet in the playoffs.
This game marks the fifth and final meeting between the two teams. While the Anaheim Ducks are basking in the glory of “top of the division”, the Kings are doing everything they can to avoid the Stanley Cup Champion curse. You know, the one that would make the Kings the eighth defending Champs to miss out on the playoffs the following season. Goalie-guru Jonathan Quick said the following to the media, as reported by ESPN.com:
“Every year is difficult. It’s not easy,” Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick said. “It’s a tough league and there’s a lot of parity in both conferences. So I don’t think this year is any more difficult than previous years. And it certainly isn’t any easier.”
The Ducks most recently came back to beat the Nashville Predators after being down by two and winning 4-2. ESPN.com reports the following quote for Anaheim’s center Ryan Getzlaf :
“If you look at our season, anytime we get a goal we usually get another one. It’s always about breaking through, getting that first goal, not getting frustrated.”
