The Los Angeles Clippers will host the Charlotte Hornets tonight. The next seven games will be interesting for the Clippers as they will face teams that currently are a combined 95 games under .500. This will give Blake Griffin a chance to get back to his normal self, because he wasn’t in tip-top shape on Sunday.
Doc Rivers said the following regarding the loss of Blake Griffin for the past 15 games. (As reported by ESPN.com)
“Not having Blake hurt us in a lot of ways,” coach Doc Rivers said. “Teams were able to trap (Chris Paul) far more than they can when Blake’s on the floor because of Blake’s ability to pass. I’m sure C.P. is the happiest of all of them to have him back.
“I think it will really help (DeAndre Jordan) because, the last three or four games he’s actually been double-teamed on the glass.”
As for the Charlotte Hornets, they are currently sporting a 29-36 record and lost to the Utah Jazz by a whopping 28 points. The Jazz took off on Monday by putting up fourteen 3-pointers in the third quarter. Head coach Steve Clifford put the loss down to a lack of energy. He said the following as reported by ESPN.com:
“I don’t know if you can be deflated when you have no energy or effort to start the game,” Hornets coach Steve Clifford said. “… Again, our team needs to have a very good effort level to play well, and obviously we didn’t have that.”
