We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bleacher Report discusses the topic of Ed Davis as a Lakers starter:

“Davis recently indicated he would opt out of his contract at season’s end in hopes of returning for a longer run.

“I’m hoping for a long-term deal,” the big man said, per Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News. “I’d love to return here. I know this will turn around eventually.”

And that’s OK with Lakers coach Byron Scott, who said, per Medina: “He plays hard and he knows his role. He does so many things to make himself better and to make us better.”

International Business Times discusses the Jeremy Lin effect:

“Scott reasoned that his decision to promote his original starter at the beginning of the season is an effort to give Lin a chance to run the offence given that he has now settled into the schemes of the team.

“I want to see how much of a difference it is now as opposed to the start of the season,” Scott told Mark Medina of Inside SoCal after the team’s practice last Sunday at El Segundo. “He knows the offense better and he knows what I need from him every single night on both ends of the floor.”

The famed franchise is in the midst of one of the worst seasons in its rich history and the move somewhat signifies that the organization is looking to further improve its chances in the lottery given that it is relegating rookie Jordan Clarkson to the bench despite his stellar play of late.
