Garafolo quickly reported that the visit is expected to be more than a visit and Mathews is expected to sign with the team.

Mathews who was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Chargers has spent his entire 5 year career with the team. Mathews has dealt with injuries most of his career and last year it looked as if they caught up to him. He played in just six games last season and hit the open market this spring.
With the Eagles parting ways with LeSean McCoy they are in need of a new running back. After the Frank Gore deal went sour they were left to scramble to plan B which looks to be Mathews.
The Eagles have made their share of questionable moves this offseason as they have parted ways with McCoy and Jeremy Maclin while DeSean Jackson was traded last offseason. They also traded Nick Foles yesterday as they acquired often injured Sam Bradford.
If Mathews does indeed sign with the Eagles the big question will be if he can actually stay healthy.
