The Los Angeles Lakers will host the Detroit Pistons tonight in an interconference matchup. With both teams pretty much out of playoff contention it will be a game of pride. The Lakers are coming off a 7 point loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night, while the Pistons are coming off a 7 point loss to the Hornets.
Stan Van Gundy is in his first year as the Pistons head coach and things haven’t gone exactly as planned. For the Lakers Byron Scott isn’t exactly basketing in success either.
Point guard Reggie Jackson was brought over in a trade deadline deal as been struggling shooting the ball since joining the squad. With Jackson’s struggles the Piston offense has struggled with him.
The Lakers just allowed Dallas guard Monta Ellis to go off for 31 points. If there is any hope for Jackson to get out of this spell it will be against the Lakers struggling defense.
Nick Young is expected to miss yet another game for the Lakers. This will be his eighth straight DNP. A bright spot for the Lakers is that rookie Julius Randle has been cleared to participate in basketball related activities. That is a great news for the young prospect who broke his leg in the first game of the season.
