Less than two minutes later Brendan Gallagher scored a backhanded shot that was assisted by Tomas Plekanec and P.K. Subban. At the end of the second period the game was tied at two a piece.
In the third period the Canadiens completed the comeback as Max Pacioretty scored a slap shot goal that was assisted by Desharnais and Dale Wise. This gave Montreal a 3-2 advantage and fans at Staples Center began to anxious.
With less than a minute left Gaborik put a wrist shot through the net that was assisted by Anze Kopitar and Jake Muzzin and the game was tied a 3-3 heading into overtime.
In overtime neither team was able to really create a scoring opportunities and the game headed into a shootout. Gaborik, Carter, and Kopitar each converted on their attempts and the Kings were able to escape with the victory.
The win extends the Kings winning streak to two in a row and they will host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.
