The Los Angeles Kings will play host to the Montreal Canadiens tonight at the Staples Center. As the regular season continues to wind down the playoff positioning gets tighter and tighter. Coming off an impressive win against the Edmonton Oilers the Kings will look to duplicate that performance.
Tonight’s game will be the second and final meeting between the two teams. The Canadiens embarrassed the Kings back in December 6-2.
Coming off of the strong win the Kings look to put their previous matchup against the Canadiens behind them. Anze Kopitar spoke to ESPN.com about the Kings most recent victory.
It was one of the more complete games we have played lately,” Kopitar said. “We were on a bit of a skid, so we definitely needed that one. At this time of the year and in the position we are in, we need the two points every night. A lot is going to depend on us. We don’t want to put our fate in any other team’s hands.”
It will be a tough matchup for the defending champs as the Canadiens are currently the top seed in the Eastern Conference. To make matters even tough Carey Price has proved to be the league’s best goaltender so far this year. He leads the league in all three major categories for goalies.
The Kings will rely on Jeff Carter, Trevor Lewis, and Kopitar each have been playing excellent hockey lately.
Get ready Kings fans! It’s game day! Go Kings Go!
