The Los Angeles Clippers continued their road trip tonight and extended their winning streak to three in a row as they beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-105. Tonight was the second game of a back to back as they beat the Chicago Bulls in Chicago last night behind great performances from Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan.
Paul and Jordan led the way again as both continued their strong play. Paul had 24 points and 14 assists to led the injury depleted Clippers. Matt Barnes did not play tonight due to a strained hamstring. Recently signed Jordan Hamilton got the start at the small forward position. He had 10 points and 3 rebounds.
DeAndre Jordan chipped in 12 points and 18 rebounds as he is on an amazing streak of 15+ rebounds a game. J.J. Redick scored 18 points before being ejected in the fourth quarter.
For the Wolves Ricky Rubio had a triple-double. He had 18 points 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. Gorgui Dieng added a double-double as he scored 10 points and had 11 rebounds. Zach LaVine added 14 points off the bench including a highlight jam.
A major factor in tonight’s game was the three pointer vs. free throw game. The Clippers knocked down 12 bombs tonight but only made 10/19 free throws. The Wolves shot only 4/15 from three but hit 29/35 from the free throw line.
It was the defense from the Clippers in the fourth quarter that propelled them to victory. In the last two games it has been the defense in crunch that has made the difference.
With the win the Clippers record improves to 40-21. They will head home to take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.
