The Los Angeles Kings blew a two goal lead tonight and loss to the Anaheim Ducks 4-2. Last night the Kings win streak was snapped when they loss to the Ottawa Senators 1-0. Even with the loss spirits were still high as the Kings were playing their best hockey of the year.
Andrej Sekera made his debut for the Kings tonight as he is supposed to help the defense as we head down the home stretch of the year.
All seemed great when the Kings opened up the game with a goal. Trevor Lewis scored his eighth goal of the year that was assisted by Robyn Regehr and Matt Greene. This gave the Kings the early 1-0 lead and it stayed that way for the rest of the period.
In the second period the Kings struck again. This time it was Brayden McNabb who scored his first goal on the year, second of his career. Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty were credited with the assist that gave the them a 2-0 lead heading into the third period.
The third period was all Anaheim. Ryan Kesler scored his 16th goal on the year that was assisted by Andrew Cogliano and Jacob Silverberg. Less than two minutes later the Ducks struck again, this time it was Emerson Etem with his fourth goal on the year. His goal was assisted by Rickard Rakell and Jiri Sekac.
With the game tied at two a piece Corey Perry sent one pass Martin Jones to give the Ducks a 3-2 advantage. This was Perry’s 25th goal on the year that was assisted by Ryan Getzlaf and Josh Manson.
In the final minute of the game Perry scored an empty net goal to seal the deal for the Ducks as they won 4-2. The Kings will have to regroup as they take on the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday afternoon.
