The Los Angeles Kings have turned on the jets and are in the midst of their longest winning streak of the season. Tonight they will take on their rival San Jose Sharks in the Bay Area in the one billion dollar Levi Stadium.
As tonight is a big game because it against the Kings rival it is also important in the playoff picture. The Kings trail the Sharks by just two points in the Wild Card standings it will go down to the wire to find out who will make the playoffs.
Our own Jeff Duarte describes this scenario as both teams on the course to collision.
This game is what I will call “round 1” of this season’s heavyweight battle between the two franchises that are not shy to admit that they completely loathe each other with a passion just like boxing legends Muhammad Ali and George Foreman did, before their epic “Rumble in the Jungle” fight in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo) back in 1974.
Duarte has a question for Sharks and their fans.
With 70,000 people watching live at the outdoor game and millions more watching around the world (including the millions of Canadians watching on the iconic “Hockey Night in Canada” broadcast), do the Sharks want to win this game bad enough? Even if they win today’s outdoor game, do they even have what it takes deep inside themselves to do what is necessary to make the playoffs? Do they even have the mental and physical fortitude to go all the way and win the prestigious Lord Stanley’s Cup?
Tonight’s game is going to battle. Let’s push this win streak to seven in a row!
