LA Rams Are Playoff Bound

After two weeks with an inexcusable loss to the Jets, and a frustrating loss to the Seahawks, the LA Rams returned to form. However, there were a number of question marks going into this game. Jared Goff would not appear at any point during the game due to a thumb injury. Cooper Kupp also did not play on Sunday’s game due to his placement on the COVID-19 reserve list. This left the Rams without their top two offensive weapons against the Cardinals. While on defense, Michael Brockers joined the COVID-19 reserve list.

As for their opponent the Cardinals, they also entered the game with some key pieces missing. The Cardinals placed wide receiver Christian Kirk on the COVID-19 reserve list. The Cardinals also placed their franchise wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald on injury reserve due to a groin injury. With playoffs on the line for both teams, and a number of players out on both sides, Sunday provided and entertaining game to say the least. The season finale at Sofi Stadium proved to to be memorable for the Rams and their fans.

The Seahawks jumped out to a 7-0 lead after a pick six early in the first quarter. The Rams would go on to score 18 unanswered points with three field goals, a pick six, and a rare safety. Another reason for the Cardinals lack of offense, the injury to Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray suffered a significant ankle injury on the first drive of the game. Murray would not return to action until the fourth quarter. By the end of regulation, the Rams clinched their spot in the playoffs with a win, and a final score of 18-7.

With the victory on Sunday, the Rams eliminated the Cardinals. On the season, the Rams finish the season at 10-6. In the McVay era, the Rams have finished with four straight winning seasons. Of those four seasons, the Rams have made a trip to the playoffs in three of them. This year, the Rams are the number six seed in the NFC. The Rams will travel to face the Seahawks this Saturday. Earlier this season the Rams and Seahawks both managed to win a game at home against one another.

The Rams will get some help for the playoffs. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp will be able to rejoin the team this week. On defense, Michael Brockers will also be able to rejoin the team this week. As for the quarterback position there is some uncertainty. Jared Goff may not be fully recovered from thumb surgery. Goff’s injury took place earlier this year when the Rams faced the Seahawks in Seattle earlier in the year. If Goff is not able to start on Saturday, the ball will go to John Wolford. The road to a championship starts with Seattle.
