Rams Winning Ways Continue

After a short week of rest, the Rams found themselves in a home game against the Patriots on Thursday Night Football. Coming into the game, the Patriots benefited from already being in Los Angeles. This is due to the Patriots having a game against the Chargers the week before. A game where the Patriots won in convincing fashion 45-0. Another major story with the Patriots in town was Super Bowl 53. This game would be the first time these two teams met since the Rams unfortunate 13-3 loss to New England.
As for the Rams, they took care of business as usual. For the third consecutive week, the Rams scored via a defensive takeaway. As a whole, the Rams held the Patriots offense to a season low 3 points. Without question the Rams have a Super Bowl caliber defense. This game against the Patriots proved to be another example. After the conclusion of Week 14, the Rams defense is currently ranked 3rd in points allowed. Allowing just under 19 points per game. The only two teams with a defense ranked better than the Rams are the Steelers, and Dolphins.
The offense did their part to say the least, scoring 17 points of their own. The 17 points on offense scored by the Rams matched the total number of points the Patriots allowed in their last two games prior to facing the Rams. Ever since the disappointing loss to San Francisco a couple of weeks ago, the offense has found their footing. On the season, the Rams are averaging 25 points per game. In their last three games, the Rams are averaging over 27 points per game. Expect this trend to continue going forward.
With three weeks remaining this season, the Rams have some advantages coming up in their schedule. Of the three games, two of them will be at home. One of those games is on Sunday against the 0-13 New York Jets, who are currently competing with Jacksonville for the number one pick in next year’s draft. The other two games will be divisional match ups against the Seahawks and Cardinals. The Rams have already beaten both of those two teams earlier this season.
As a result of the win over New England, the Rams now have 9 wins this year. Under head coach Sean McVay, this is the fourth consecutive winning season in Los Angeles. A win on Sunday would result in a playoff birth for the Rams. This would be the third occasion in four seasons the Rams make a playoff appearance. Due to the current standings, the Rams are the number three seed in the NFC. This would result in the Rams hosting a playoff game against the number six seed Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However there are a number of different scenarios and a few different teams the Rams could end up facing. For now though, it’s time to show the Jets, Sofi Stadium is the Rams house.
